Early 20th century half dark blue morocco over blue cloth; top edge gilt. 19 x 14 cm. Binding by C.A. Campling of Great Yarmouth with his ticket on the front pastedown.
Spine a bit sun-faded, light rubbing to extremities, a little soiling to cloth. Pictorial bookplate of previous owner with Moroccan theme on front pastedown; old catalog description attached to front flyleaf with small piece of tape; gift inscription dated in the year of publication on the half-title. Short (2 cm) marginal closed tear to map neatly repaired on verso. Map has some very light foxing. Light foxing to title page and ads; very light scattered foxing elsewhere; two leaves (pp. 25-29) with light offsetting from pressed flower. Small, shallow (0.5 cm deep) chip to margin of pp. 205-206. Still near very good.
FIRST EDITION, first issue with "business" (vs. "pleasure") on p. 40, line 11, plus the two other errors listed by McKay; ads are dated "5 G 4.86" and 5 B 4.86." McKay, "A Stevenson Library," 378. Prideaux 18.
